The hubs were initially made in aluminium with fulcrum brake adjusters as on the four strokes but at frame number approximately T2600A the adjusters were deleted, the brake plate was changed and the shoes were made from steel pressings instead of cast aluminium alloy. At some point the hub material was changed to cast iron. For the 1962 model year the hubs gained cooling fins between the spoke flanges, the brake shoes gained anti squeal springs and the brake plates were enlarged to prevent the ingress of water.
