Exhaust System

Below is a table showing all the available exhaust systems. Especially during the 1930’s there were various options available, which however does not prevent you from fitting a down swept exhaust system to a 1935 Red Hunter, which the table shows originally had an upswept system. In fact, Ariel would fit any combination of parts together to special order as long as they worked and were available.

Note that upswept systems cannot be fitted to plunger or swinging arm frames except for the HS and HT. Where a fishtail silencer is shown it is the flat type except from 1936 to 1939 when the barrel fishtail was used; both types were available in 1935. Warning there are exceptions!!! If in doubt supply full machine details and we will advise, the best source of information is, as always, the parts book.

Some of the less popular items such as OHC SQ 4 systems are only made to order and there may be some delay, so order early.

HIGH LEVEL EXHAUST PIPES may not be a perfect fit because of the difficulties in hand bending such tight radii. The only solution is ruled out because the small quantities involved do not warrant the investment required. The HS MK I exhaust pipe is supplied un-plated and with loose brackets for this reason.
