The spoke sets and wheel rims listed below are the most popular. We can supply spokes and rims of any size for any wheel, not just Ariel ones, please ask for details of how to order!
The wheel rims and spoke sets have been carefully worked out and have been used to build 100’s of wheels, if they differ from the old rim and spokes of your wheel it is because your wheel was built differently in the past, there is more than one way to lace up a wheel. All rims are positioned centrally between the spoke flanges except for the 1937-58 Square Four rear which should have the rim offset to the right by ¼”.
‘Rustless’ Spoke Set – Made from galvanised wire that will last well, supplied with zinc plated nipples. Where the original spokes were butted the spoke diameter in these sets is half way between the 2 diameters of the originals and all the common sets are held in stock, non stock spokes will take 3-4 weeks in most circumstances.
Stainless Steel Spoke Set – Spokes are polished stainless steel, supplied with nickle plated brass nipples. Where the original spokes were butted the spoke diameter in these sets is half way between the 2 diameters of the originals. To order, delivery varies.
Butted Spoke Set Many Ariel wheels were originally fitted with butted spokes where the end nearest the hub is thicker, although usually only on the brake drum side of the wheel. Appearance is the only reason to fit butted spokes. Only available in stainless steel, supplied with nickle plated brass nipples. To order, 6-8 weeks delivery usually.
Standard Chrome Wheel Rims – The modern Italian made rims are now very good quality, the manufacturers name is stamped on the inside where it cannot be seen. They are supplied with the correct dimple pattern to suit the hub. Usually 3-4 weeks delivery time.
British Chrome Rims – These rims are manufactured and plated to a higher standard than the standard rims with a more accurate shape. Normally to order 4-6 weeks delivery.
Stainless Steel Rims – Highly polished for the ultimate in quality. To order, 6 weeks delivery usually.
