Rigid Frames Prior to 1951

Valenced mudguards were usually found on the touring models, de-Luxes and 4G, but the more sporty plain ones could be specified. The valenced mudguards were dropped in 1949, just before the de-Luxe models were themselves dropped from the range. For number plates and fittings, see further on. It is important to check the fit of stays and mudguards before painting – do a ‘dry run’. Some washers may be needed between the lugs on the stays and the mudguard to ensure a good fit.
